Tier camp is a leadership camp for those of you who don’t know. This would normally be an all day camp for students 7 and up. It is for the students to learn to be exceptional leaders in their classes and when training in a lower class to be an instructor. Students in tiers 1-4 will be student leaders. When they hit tier 5 that’s when they become a student instructor.
In tiers 1-4 the students will learn how lead individuals and small groups. In order to do that, we will teach them to be comfortable speaking in front of people and help them improve upon their commutation skills. They will start to be able to lead a segment of class with a certified instructor present to help them if they need it. With that they will need to learn all 10 of the class management skills.
When the student earns their tier 5 the student should be able to conduct a 30 minute class on their own with a certified instructor on the mat with them. After their instructor see’s they can conduct that class they will start to earn the next level collar which is different from the tier levels. All leadership students start with the same collar, red, white, and blue. The next level is red which is a trainee instructor. Then red/black collar is a level 1 instructor, next is black/red/black which is a level 2 instructor. Lastly is a solid black which is a level 3 certified instructor which the student can earn but must be 18 years or older. At levels 1-3 the student will be able to teach 30-45 minute classes on their own.
